Bayern reaches record revenue over 500 million euros
15 October 2014- For the 2013-14 season, FC Bayern München has earned over half a billion euros in revenue, a 22% increase from the previous year.
A report of Focus magazine has confirmed that Bayern made 528 million euros in revenues. Only from fan merchandise, the club made more than 105 million euros, with 1.2 million jerseys sold – twice as much as the rest of the Bundesliga combined.
After taxes, the club’s profit is set to 16,5 million euros – two and half million more (or 18%) than in the treble season.
Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had already announced the record numbers during the Extraordinary General Meeting in May. The club had already made 95,2 millions euros more than in the same period in 2012/2013.
In comparison, the numbers are smaller than Real Madrid’s. The Spanish club earned 604 million euros, a record in team sports history. Manchester United (551 millions) and FC Barcelona (530 millions) also are ahead. The difference? Each of them owes money to lenders, while Bayern is about to drive the debt figures down to zero.
How? An important sponsor, the Allianz insurance company, struck a 110-million deal with the team to take a 8.33% stake. The club intends to use this to finish paying its stadium debt.{jcomments on}
